Jun 2007 -- Community garden opens

The Community Garden project is taking off! 14 July 2007 saw a good turn out to the latest working bee at the Marinich Reserve site and brand new signage.

 

17 Mar 2007 -- Whanau Fun Day

Hundreds of people turned out to another famous Ranui Whanau Fun day. With a focus on youth there was local music, performances, art, prizes and food from four corners of the world. Information stalls from the likes of ACC, Project Twin Streams, and Trees for babies kept people up to date. The support of local businesses and volunteers made for a great day out.

 

April 2007 -- RAP Rave 9

The 9th edition of the RAP newsletter was distributed  in April 2007. Theres an on-line pdf version here. 500KB

Apr 2004 --HIC opens

Ranui in conjunction with Health west open a dropin health information center

 

Apr 2004 --Ranui gets new signs, sculptures and street lights

In conjunction with council several new pieces of street art are installed, including Ranui signs into and out of town.

 

Dec 2003 -- RAP wins trash to fashion award

A RAP team create an entry in to the Waitakere City trash to fashion awards, and win!

 

Nov 2002 -- Premises bought

Having outgrown the old office RAP decides to buy an empty real estate office to the run the project from. It came to be named RAP house and is located in the centre of town.

 

May 2002 -- Clicit opens

A facility providing computers for community use is opened on 29 May 2002. This is a joint venture with libraries. The prime minister makes an appearance shortly after to see what rap is up to.

 

Jul 2002 -- Committee elected

The community elects a committee of 16 local people to oversea the project.

 

April  2002 -- Market days

Monthly markets start running as a focal point for the community.

 

Aug 2001 -- Visioning festival workshops

Two community visioning workshop events were held, using professional facilitation, to establish community priorities for the RAP.

 

June 2000 -- Project manager

The project gets underway as DI Jennings is employed to manage the project.
