		Learn and Earn Computers — 21 Nov 2003 Post conference the germ of an idea for an integrated bundle of ICT initiatives is brewing. We are looking at the LINCT `Learn and Earn` concept.

		CLIC IT Opening — 21 Nov 2003 The learning center / Community Computer Access facility opened sucessfully on the 25th May 2002. Here is an account of the opening day.
		Learning Centre Proposal — 21 Nov 2003 The idea of a `learning centre` for Ranui is gaining momentum. RAP has just been gifted three Pentium 166 computers to start the ball rolling. Field trip report., and proposal document.

		Ecocity to become Ecotech City — 14 Nov 2003 Currently in its early stages is a Mayoral initiative to boost IT resources in Waitakere. A consultant, Bevis England, has been commissioned to study existing projects and recommend an integrated overall approach for the city, harmonising initiatives by schools, community groups and libraries etc
		The Digital Divide — 17 Nov 2003 According to experts the knowledge divide is corelated with the income divide. Does Ranui have a lower than average access to the internet? What oppurtunities does this represent for Ranui? I find that problem solving ideas are always available on the web. Here is what one group has done to bridge the divide. The LINCT Coalition stands for Learning and Information Networking for Community via Technology.
		Edemocracy Lecture — 14 Nov 2003 A seminar event entitled `Democracy in the internet age` was held on 2 Dec 2001 at Langholm. I made some brief notes. Steven Clift, an international e-governance expert, was the keynote speaker. Steven`s message is that e-government is much more than an avenue for cheaper service delivery by government bodies. Steven believes that the heart of e-government is increasing community partipation.
		New money for community IT development — 13 Nov 2003 Great news from the government concerning additional money targeted for reducing the digital divide at the local level. We reproduce a budget press release from the beehive website.
