Learning Centre Proposal

Ecocity to become Ecotech City

Currently in its early stages is a Mayoral initiative to boost IT resources in Waitakere. A consultant, Bevis England, has been commissioned to study existing projects and recommend an integrated overall approach for the city, harmonising initiatives by schools, community groups and libraries etc more

The Digital Divide

According to experts the knowledge divide is corelated with the income divide. Does Ranui have a lower than average access to the internet?  What oppurtunities does this represent for Ranui? I find that problem solving ideas are always available on the web. Here is what one group has done to bridge the divide. Edemocracy Lecture

A seminar event entitled `Democracy in the internet age` was held on 2 Dec 2001 at Langholm. I made some brief notes. Steven Clift, an international e-governance expert, was the keynote speaker. Steven`s message is that e-government is much more than an avenue for cheaper service delivery by government bodies. Steven believes that the heart of e-government is increasing community partipation. more
