Introduction

Friends of Urdu Ranui (FOUR) is a Friendship Group of New settlers who live in Ranui. The group aims to create a friendly, social and cultural environment in Ranui for New Settlers and creating a link between New Settlers and the Ranui community. This is seen to achieve several outcomes of the RAP Strategic Plan. Every body is welcome to join the tea time meetings. In all programmes light refreshment is served.

Activities

The Group meets monthly. Last year President of Waitakere Ethnic Board Ann Pale and Marama Davidson of Human right commission were among our guest speakers.

• Ladies of the group also meet monthly for face grooming. This is a only ladies time. If any lady is interested please inform by phone or email before the time.
• Weekly Urdu Classes are also part of the programmes run by the Friends of Urdu, Ranui (FOUR).
• Urdu Classes were held weekly during August and September. A total of 17 students were enrolled and 15 attended the classes regularly.
• In Urdu Class on August 14 a quiz competition was organised to celebrate the independence day of Pakistan (August 14 1947).
• Especial Eid Day Parties  on 25th of Oct,2006 & 1st Jan,2007. On Eid-ul-fitar & eid-ul-ada FOUR had celebrated the Eid Festival and Eid Milan Parties were held at the Ranui community centre. The Parties were attended by more than 50 young and Adults. The high lights of these celebrations were the shared lunch and gifts for the children under 15.
